Anton Lev (“Developer” or “We”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through compliance with this policy.
This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit our website at foodiejournal.app (the “Website”) or download and use the FOODIE. mobile application (the “App”), together the “Services”, and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.
Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not use the App. By accessing or using the App, you agree to this privacy policy.
Children Under the Age of 13
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the App or provide any information about yourself to us. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at contact@foodiejournal.app.
Information We Collect About You
We collect the following types of information from users of the App:
Information You Provide to Us
- Account information: Your email address when you register via email one-time password (OTP); your name, email address, and profile photo if you sign in with Google; or your name and email address if you sign in with Apple.
- Content you create: Recipes (including text, photos, and source URLs from websites, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms), cooking instructions, recipe ingredients, folders (“Books”) for organizing recipes, shopping lists, and meal plans. The App stores the original source link for attribution. Photos you upload are stored in Supabase Storage and may be sent to Google Gemini AI for recipe extraction.
- Preferences: Cooking skill level, cuisine preferences, preferred measurement units (kg/lbs, ml/fl oz, °C/°F), and recipe source preferences.
- AI Chat conversations: Messages you send to the AI Chat feature and the AI-generated responses. Conversations may include cooking questions, ingredient inquiries, and recipe-related discussions.
- Support communications: Records and copies of your correspondence if you contact us.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device type and operating system version
- Analytics events: We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to collect usage data such as feature interactions, screen views, onboarding progress, and general App engagement. Your user ID and email address are associated with analytics data to help us understand usage patterns and improve the App.
- Push notification tokens: If you enable push notifications, we collect and store your device push token (via Expo Notifications) to send you timely updates such as meal plan reminders.
- Approximate location: City and country derived from your IP address, used for analytics and service improvement. We do not collect precise GPS or device location data.
- Crash logs automatically generated if the App encounters an error
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Precise GPS/location data
- Contacts or address book
- Browsing history outside the App
- Health or biometric data
- Financial information (all payments are processed by Apple)
How We Use Your Information
We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure
- Store and sync your recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and folders across devices
- Process recipe content using AI (extracting recipes from photos, URLs, and video links)
- Generate recipe suggestions based on your available ingredients
- Provide AI Chat responses to your cooking-related questions
- Improve AI Chat quality and accuracy based on usage patterns
- Manage your subscription status
- Respond to your support requests
- Send you push notifications (e.g., meal plan reminders) if you have opted in
- Analyze usage trends and improve the App through product analytics
- Notify you about changes to the App
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

| PostHog | Product analytics hosted in the EU. Collects usage events, user ID, and email to help us understand how the App is used and improve it. |
| Expo Notifications | Delivers push notifications. Your device push token is shared with Expo to send notifications such as meal plan reminders. |
| RevenueCat | Manages in-app subscriptions. Your user ID, email address, and subscription status are shared. |
| Google Analytics | Website analytics. Collects anonymous page views and traffic data on the Website (foodiejournal.app). |
| Apple App Store | Processes all subscription payments. We do not have access to payment card details. |
Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
We may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide:
- To third-party service providers we use to support the App (as listed above), who are bound to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
- To a buyer or successor in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which personal information about our users is among the assets transferred.
- To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.
- If we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Developer, our users, or others.
International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. Our third-party service providers (including Supabase and Google) may store data on servers located in the United States or other countries. PostHog analytics data is stored on servers located in the European Union. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your data to these countries, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase servers with industry-standard encryption. All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Row Level Security ensures that users can only access their own data. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device.
We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted through the App.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete individual recipes, folders, shopping lists, and meal plans at any time within the App.
AI Chat Data. AI Chat conversation history is stored on our servers for the duration of your account. You can delete individual chat conversations within the App. Upon account deletion, all chat data is permanently removed along with your other personal data.
Account Deletion. You can delete your account directly within the App by going to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Upon account deletion, all associated personal data (including recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and profile information) will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. You may also request account deletion by contacting us at contact@foodiejournal.app.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data stored in the App
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your recipe data
- Withdraw consent at any time by discontinuing use of the App
For European Union and UK Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the EU or UK, you additionally have the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, the right to object to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
For California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through a notice in the App. The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of this page.
